The 501(c)(3) form is a letter from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) that includes a statement like, “Our records indicate that your organization is currently exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.” The letter should be addressed to your organization. It is NOT a copy of your application for the 501(c)(3) form, certificate of filing, letter from US Treasury assigning your identification number, or other.
No, we do not accept late applications. However, grants are on a semi-annual cycle with closing dates for applications in the spring and fall each year. You are welcome to apply in the next grant cycle. See Grant Application page’s Deadline section for upcoming closing dates.
The Foundation is not a source of annual operating support and consequently cannot pay employee wages or salaries. See Grant Application page’s What kind of grants are not funded section for more details.
Yes, religious groups are eligible. However, we look for the 501(c)(3) form, even from religious groups. Also, please note that grants are not funded for private or parochial education nor for sectarian religious purposes.
For awarded grants, we would like a report within 6 months. If your project completion date should extend beyond 6 months, please file a report that explains the circumstances of this delay and the progress to date. For more details, please see our LCCF Report Guidelines.
Please contact us with an updated schedule for your project. Even if the project is delayed, the awarded money should be used for the purposes consistent with your application. The Latah County Community Foundation (LCCF) is dedicated to improving the quality of life of the citizens of Latah County. Your project can have scope outside of Latah County, but please specify the part of your budget that will be used for Latah County so we can evaluate your grant request appropriately.
Your project budget can provide valuable information during our grant review process:
- Expenses – include breakdown of expenses and specify if specific expenses are funded by other committed funding or in-kind support (e.g. volunteer labor, donation from specific organization or individual)
- Income – if your project is anticipated to generate income, please include anticipated amounts and sources (e.g., income from tickets sold)
